Using credible sources and properly citing sources is important for all of your graded speeches. As discussed in Chapter 3 (Taylor), you need to be an ethical speaker. You should avoid plagiarism in your speech. What does this mean? You need to make sure that any information you use from an outside source is properly cited out loud during your speech and that you give credit for language and IDEAS you use from other sources.
You are required to cite two sources during your first graded speech, OUT LOUD. For this assignment, there are 4 required components for your post.*
|. Identify one source you will be using in your upcoming speech. Present the Citation either using APA or MLA style depending on your instructor’s instructions.
Il. Answer the following questions based on the one source you identified.
1. Who is the original author or “speaker” of this quotation or material?
2. What is the title of the source?
3. What do you know about the source of the citation? Is she/he an expert, such as a scientist, doctor, government official, college professor, etc?
4. Where did you find the article? In what journal or magazine, on what website, in what book?
5. If awebsite, who sponsors the website (what organization, government, company)?
6. When was this information published? What is the date on it?
