Based off of James Lovelock, NOVACENE: THE COMING AGE OF HYPERINTELLINGE [The MIT Press, 2019] ISBN:978-0-262-04364-9
1. “Life and the Earth are an interacting whole and the planet can be seen as a single organism.”
Please explain.
2. Life span of a planet is determined by the properties of the star that warms it. Our star is the Sun. It gave us life and it sustains us. We have so far been protected by the planetary system James Lovelock calls GAIA which cools the Earth’s surface. Identify the reasons why the Earth’s temperature could become uninhabitably high.
3. Dynamic, self-regulating systems wholly defy logical explanations that uses step-by-step arguments. GAIA theory argues that the entire Earth is a single self-regulating organism. Is (Are) the global economic arrangement(s) a sub-system(s) of the Planet Earth? Is the global economic system a dynamic self-regulating organism? Can Newtonian physics explain dynamic, self-regulating systems?
4. Please identify the tree stages of Anthropocene.
5. Is Dataism a data fetish of a paradigm shift?
