Submit topic for Public Health Analysis Paper to Faculty for Final Approval and begin working on Comprehensive Review of the Literature. Submission should be approximately 1 page. This submission should include your topic, how the public health issue relates to advanced practice nursing issues and how it relates to the objectives of Healthy People 2020. Please also address how this public health policy analysis can be used in varying communities across the United States and how you may relate this data to your capstone project.

Public Health Review Paper is due. The DNP Student should find a public health issue such as: chronic disease, Hepatitis B screening, Tuberculosis or other health issues that affect populations. This is a 5-page paper excluding cover and reference pages. Introduction to the problem, population demographics, current initiatives that are and have been enacted to ensure population safety and health. Describe the agency responsible and any funding sources that are being allocated. Conclusion on how the DNP will utilize this information in capstone project.

This week you are to develop a PowerPoint presentation summarizing your Public Health Analysis paper. The presentation should analyze the public health issue in terms of the justice, legal, regulatory, data and advanced practice issues related to it. Be sure to identify how your discussion relates to the objectives of Healthy People 2020.

What strategies or policies have been used to address the issue?

Are they working? Why or why not?

What strategies do you propose to improve the situation? Is legislative change needed?

What are the implications of this issue for advanced practice nursing and/or public health? In other words where do we go with this policy issue in the future?

Your PowerPoint presentation should be 20-25 slides, in APA format, with details included. Be creative. Voiceover presentation for slides is optional.

Week 9 Project

1.  Construct an overview to introduce your identified population health issue and its relationship to the health of the American public.

Include a problem statement and an introduction to the issue.

Describe the incidence and prevalence of the problem in epidemiologic terms, if appropriate, citing your sources.

Discuss the rationale for selecting the issue.  What is its significance or importance in relation to population health, social justice or other ethical principles?

2.  Perform a comprehensive review the literature and include an annotated reference list from a variety of fields other than nursing to answer the questions below.

Include the following parameters, if appropriate: identification of the at-risk populations; identification of risk factors, causes, known prevention measures; any efficacious, evidenced-based diagnosis and treatment that may be available/not available for the at-risk population and this specific health problem.

Do inequities exist?  If yes, please describe and document your sources.

What situations/barriers exist that prevent elimination or decrease in this health problem or might amplify the problem?

What situations/supports exist in the community that facilitate prevention, elimination or decrease in this health problem?
