Dear Professor Ramtho:

I write to address your flawed assessment for my paper’s grade. When you returned my paper, I could not believe my eyes when I saw that you gave me a 70. Please allow me the opportunity to argue for a better grade. If you understood how hard I worked on it, how much my friends liked it, and what a mistake you have made, then you would surely give me an “A.”

I have always received good grades in my writing class. This paper took me three hours to write. I typed for most of that time. When I was typing, the words flowed onto the paper, and I rarely even had to think about them. When I finished with the last sentence, everything felt so right that I knew a good grade would be coming my way, but it wasn’t. You misread the entire paper! If you read it again and read it ly, you’d see that I deserve better.

After finishing my paper, I gave a copy to my friends to read. Each one of them laughed out loud, saying they really enjoyed my sense of humor. Moreover, not a single one thought I should get lower than an “A.” You said that our peers are our audience, so I was writing for them. Undoubtedly, they were very impressed by my writing skills, and so should you be, too.

Finally, you read my paper and gave me an  grade. While I understand that teachers sometimes make mistakes, you should be more careful when handing out important grades like for papers. I put a tremendous amount of time and effort into typing that paper, and I would appreciate it if you spent an equal amount of time and effort grading it. If you did, then we would not have mistakes in grades like this.
