Directions: As you
complete Lab 2, you will learn about compression. Follow the directions below
and answers all question in steps 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. Submit Lab 2 to the
Dropbox no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT.
1. Click here to
access the Lab 2 File and save it as Lab2File to your computer. Make sure to take note as to where the file
Lab2File was saved so the questions in the following two steps can be answered.
2. Locate in your
computer the Lab2File saved above, right click on the file, select Properties,
to answer the questions:
a. What is the format of the
file?
b. Is this a compressed format?
c. What is the size of the file
in bytes?
3. Right click on the
Lab2File file and select Send To – Compressed (Zipped) Folder. This will create
a Lab2File zip file, right click on the Lab2File zip file, select Properties,
to answer the questions:
a. What is the format of the
file?
b. Is this a compressed format?
c. What is the size of the file
in bytes?
4. By what percentage
was the Lab2File reduced? Calculate by taking the original file size in step-2
minus the compressed size in step 3 divided by original file size in step-2.
5. Repeat basically
the same steps 1 through 4 above for a different file. Download Lab2WildLife
video file from the Doc Sharing area. Make sure to take note as to where the
file Lab2WildLife file was saved so the questions in the following two steps
can be answered.
6. Locate in your
computer the Lab2WildLife saved above, right click on the file, select
Properties, to answer the questions:
a. What is the format of the
file?
b. Is this a compressed format?
c. What is the size of the file
in bytes?
7. Right click on the
Lab2WildLife file and select Send To – Compressed (Zipped) Folder. This will
create a Lab2WildLife zip file, right click on the Lab2WildLife zip, select

file?

c. What is the size of the file
