Rasmussen Module 01 Art Appreciation Credit by Assessment August 2019
Through every period in history, art has evolved. There are
various factors that influence this – what is goingon in the world at any given
moment, the culture, and social implications can all play a role in this
evolution. What is now considered the Modern Art period was relatively unknown
in America on a public level until theArmory Show of 1913 when Europe’s
greatest living artists displayed their work overseas for the first time
collectively. Immediately, American artists were taken aback by how advanced
this artwork was, while themajority of the estimated 75,000 people in
attendance were shocked and even appalled by what they were witnessing.
The Armory Show is a good example of how art is created,
shared, and experienced on a global scale.
