Overview:

Students will choose an age group and create a developmentally appropriate activity based on the first letter of their first or last name. Then they will write directions for the activity and a brief explanation for why they chose the age group and activity.

Instructions:

•Choose an age group to create your activity for: Birth – 12 months, 12 -24 months, or 24

-36 months.

•Using the first initial of your first or last name, create a detailed activity for your chosen age group.

oFor example: if the first initial of your first name is the letter “B,” you might create an activity called “Barbara’s Berry Basket” designed with the older toddler in mind. If the first initial of your last name is the letter “B,” you might want to create an activity called “Mr. Bryers Butterballs.”

•Write out detailed step-by-step directions for your activity.

oFor the example of Barbara’s Berry Basket: The child will pick a laminated card with a picture of a strawberry and match it to the picture of a strawberry on the poster board.

•Take a photo of the activity you have created.

•Write a brief 1-2 paragraph explanation as to why you chose the age group you did and how your activity is developmentally appropriate for this age appropriate based on the milestones for your chosen age group from the CDC website in the Readings and Resources.

Requirements:

•Length: 1-2 paragraphs for the reflection and a paragraph explaining the game rules in a Word document.

•Upload the game picture and your Word document to the assignment link.

•Have fun; be creative.
