Unit 2 Assignment: Full Day Visual Classroom Picture Schedule

Overview:

Children feel more confident and secure when their schedules are familiar, safe, and predictable. Routines and schedules also help children feel more in control and engage in their environment. For this assignment, you will design a full-day classroom schedule based on your chosen age group (12-18-month-olds OR 18-36-month-olds).

To prepare for this assignment, read Chapter 8 in your course eBook and watch the Unit 2 Readings and Resources videos. Learn about scheduling as it applies to high- quality learning environments, materials, policies, and procedures for protecting the health and safety of young children.

Instructions:

1.Read eBook Chapter 1, Taking a Developmental Perspective.

2.Choose an age group: 12-18-month-olds OR 18-36-month-olds.

3.Decide between making a schedule on a poster board or a Word document.

4.Create the schedule using times of the day, words, and pictures/icons to create a clear and neat presentation.

5.Write a one-page paper in Word in which you identify the age group and explain:

oThe reason you set up the schedule the way you did.

oAt least three ways your schedule supports DAP. Include at least one piece of evidence from your eBook to support your reasoning.

Requirements:

•Use at least one piece of evidence from the eBook with proper APA format citation where you use the reference in the reflection: (Swim, J. 2023).

•Include the reference citation from the eBook at the end of your paper: Swim, J. (2023). Infants & Caregiving Responsive Curriculum Development. Cengage.

•Submit your schedule using the assignment link.

oIf you create the schedule on a poster board, submit a photo of it.

oIf you create the schedule on the computer, submit it as a Word document.

•Submit your Word document of at least two paragraphs on one (1) double- spaced page, with 12 pt. Times New Roman font using the assignment link.
