Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review the latest available online materials on the progress in the field of self-driving technology. Also, review the online article Public Perceptions of Self-Driving Cars: The Case of Berkeley, California (Links to an external site.) (Howard, 2013). There are many companies working on the self-driving technology such as vehicles and motorcycles. Examples of these companies are Google, Apple, auto companies, and many more. Research and find out which companies are working on this technology and then choose one for your Week 1 assignment. (You may want to refer to the Recommended Resources to see examples of possible glitches). Investigate the following as it relates to the company you selected:

Describe the company that you selected and explain the culture of the organization and two reasons for selecting it as a player in the self-driving technology. (1 page)

Analyze some of the failures and obstacles in developing self-driving technology in your selected company so far. (1 page)

Estimate the stage of development the company is currently in. (.5 page)

Infer how long it will take to make the technology available to public. (.5 page)

• Examine the types of market disruption that are expected from the self-driving cars. (1 page)
• Use each of the five competitive forces model as described in Chapter 2 of our textbook to explain how information technology might be used to provide a winning position for an insurance company dealing with the self-driving cars. (2 pages)
• The Self-Driving Technology Project
