Personal Social Media Plan (PSMP)

Summary

Your personal social media plan (PSMP) is designed to help you familiarize yourself with various social media networks and ac vi es, learn how to leverage these pla orms to build your online network and presence, and jumpstart your online professional brand. The PSMP is worth 15% of your total grade, and is made up of the two components below.

1. Personal Social Media Plan Report (10%): Your plan will be forma ed into a PowerPoint or PDF deck (limit of 10 slides) and uploaded to Canvas. More details are below.

2. Oral Presenta on (5%): You will deliver a 4 to 5-minute presenta on about your personal social media plan via a Zoom recording.

Note: Your plan and presenta on will be graded together simultaneously. I will watch your presenta on as I look at your plan so design a PowerPoint made for a presenta on (i.e., short bullet points that support what you’re saying, visually appealing, etc.).

Report Details

Your report will be 8-10 PowerPoint slides in length (or a PDF le if you prefer). You will use this report to deliver your presenta on via Zoom. Please be sure to include your references at the end using APA or MLA format (whichever you prefer). This report is a chance for you to synthesize everything you discovered in your labs and create a cohesive analysis and future plan. Your report should include the following sec ons:

1. Introduc on and agenda

2. Who was I online before we started? (Be sure to include your results from Lab #1)

3. What you want your personal, professional brand image to be now and how will developing it help you achieve your career goals

4. How are you conveying that personal, professional brand image on social media. Make sure you address each of the sub-sec ons below to answer this prompt and include analy cs, sta s cs, and insight from data when you can. For example, “LinkedIn pro le got 38 views in 7 days” is more convincing than “LinkedIn pro le got more views.”

a. Your blog topic with special emphasis on how it relates to your personal, professional brand. Make sure you report your blog analy cs using the stats tab from the WordPress site (even if it’s 0 views—that’s info!).

b. Your LinkedIn pro le and analysis of online interac ons from your lab c. How you used Hootsuite to promote your blog and manage your social media interac ons

5. Summary and future direc on for your personal, professional brand on social media. Be sure to discuss what you plan to keep doing and what you plan to stop doing.

Many people nd it useful to include a picture of their pro le/page/graph/etc. on one side of the slide and bullet points with analysis on the other side; this is not a requirement, but the report needs to be visually engaging and showcase your analysis, and this format has worked for previous students.
