Purpose

This assignment provides an opportunity to engage with nurse leaders to learn more about the application of evidence-based practice in the healthcare arena. Students will interview a nurse leader to gain insights regarding a specific evidence-based initiative within a selected healthcare setting. Ethical implications of evidence-based practice will be examined, along with its impact on practice-related outcomes.

Course Learning Outcomes

Through this assignment, the student will address the following course learning outcomes:

Assignment Overview

Reflect upon the impact of evidence-based practice on practice outcomes, the nursing profession, and healthcare delivery. Identify a nurse leader to interview in order to gain first-hand insights regarding the application of evidence-based practice in a healthcare setting.

Once you have identified the nurse leader, create questions to learn more about his or her experiences with respect to evidence-based practice and to complete the essay content noted below. Here are some questions to consider:

What is an example of a recent evidence-based practice initiative in your organization, and what was the rationale for the initiative?

What process or steps were followed to implement the evidence-based initiative?

What ethical considerations were identified in this process, and how were they addressed?

How as application of this evidence-based practice initiative improved care? How has it impacted patient and organizational outcomes?

Once your interview is complete, construct an essay to address all of the following items. Submit your essay directly in the textbox of the module assignment area in the course.
