Professional Development

Please answer the following two prompts in an essay. Be sure
to use subheadings to make it clear which section you are addressing. At least
two scholarly sources in addition to your textbook should be utilized.

Discuss the psychological impact of disasters. How would
you, as the primary healthcare provider, care for your patients’ psychological
needs? What needs do you anticipate? What screenings should be used? How can
you effectively manage transitions, grief, and stress?

Identify one high risk population and discuss their special
assessment needs following a disaster. What considerations must you keep in
mind? Discuss at least two possible complications that could occur in this
population and how you would care for these patients, as a primary healthcare
provider. Discuss psycho-social considerations for the population following a
disaster.

Physical Assessment

As part of the ShadowHealth® Comprehensive Assessment you
will complete a physical assessment of the virtual patient “Tina”.
Note: You need to practice these exercises, multiple times, to become familiar
with the process and become proficient in your assessment skills, before you
actually record yourself.

Using a camera on a smart phone, tablet or the free version
of www.screencast-o-matic.com record yourself showing your state issues ID or
passport for student verification and performing a complete physical assessment
on “Tina” in ShadowHealth®, then upload that video recording file to
the Dropbox.

The video recording usually is approximately 15 minutes in
length, and should include subjective and objective data for the following
systems:

-HEENT

-Respiratory

-Cardiovascular

-Gastrointestinal

-Musculoskeletal

-Neurological

-Skin, Hair, and Nails

Once you have achieved at least 80% on the Comprehensive
Assessment, please download, save and upload your Lab Pass document to the
dropbox.

Both the Lab Pass document and the video recording of the
physical assessment must be uploaded in module 8 Dropbox.
