Foreign Country Through Travel and Tourism – Turkey

• Step 2: Conduct research on a country you choose.
• • Research must include the followings:
    1. (A) Fast facts and geographic information: (1) location, (2) capital, (3) population, (4) language, (5) currency.
    1. (B) International visitor trends and inbound tourism statistics of the country:
       • (1) international arrivals in the past 5 years (2017-2022) – including (a) breakdown by overnight vs. excursion, (b) trip purpose, and (c) mode of transportation.
       • (2) tourism industries – number of establishments
       • (3) top 5 originating countries in the country’s international arrivals
       • (4) tourism earnings: (a) contribution of travel/tourism to GDP, (b) contribution of travel/tourism to employment, (c) tourism earnings in the past 5 years
       • (5) top 5 destinations/attractions most visited by their international travelers.
       • *Data and information must be based on UNWTO and WTTC reports you found and submitted for Week2, Assignments 1 & 2, or local tourism authorities (e.g. country’s ministry of tourism, national tourism office, or city tourism office). No other stats will be considered to be legitimate.
    2. (C) Information for international travelers: (1) visa, (2) security – must include the U.S. Department of State’s travel advisory information, (3) cultural etiquette, (4) dos and don’ts.

• Step 3: Design your own trip itinerary and develop a travel budget.
  • Packaged or group tour is not allowed. Only backpacking or an independent trip is allowed.
  • • Your trip length must be between 6 days minimum and 10 days maximum including departure from/arrival to home town.
  • Develop your trip itinerary by a daily schedule. Your itinerary must include:
    • where to stay (local accommodations)
    • where to visit (local destinations/attractions),
    • what to do (activities)
    • how to move (transportation you will use internationally and locally)

• • Your travel budget must include:
    • Itemized costs for transportation, accommodation, activities, and daily per diem (meal and incidental expenses).
    • A budget must be based on actual research and in detail.
  • Cite your all sources using APA style in the text (each slide) and references at the end. An individual citation must be inserted in the narration with parenthesis in each slide where it is cited. All references must be listed again at the end of the presentation as References.

• Step 4: Make your PowerPoint slides (your trip itinerary) appeal to other classmates.
  • PowerPoint:
    • Your PowerPoint must consist of the following 6 headlines: see above descriptions for what to be included in each section. (1) Fast Facts (2) International Visitor Trends (3) Information for International Travelers (4) Travel Itinerary (5) Travel Budget
