In the ecosystem ecology lecture, you were introduced to the the Biomes of the World. This discussion gives you an opportunity to explore the biome in your favorite place on earth!
For this discussion, follow these steps:
- Use GoogleEarth to choose a location anywhere on earth (well, anywhere on earth that has not already been chosen by one of your classmates). For this specific location, report the GPS coordinates and the specific name of the place. For your selected location, state the following:
- Name the biome.
- What are the major characteristics of this biome – elevation, geology, climate, temperature, rainfall, seasonality, and winds?
- Provide at least 3 examples of representative plants you would likely find in this biome
- Provide at least 3 examples of representative animals you would likely find in this biome
- Identify two anthropogenic problems that threaten the biome
