The company you choose for this should not only be of interest to you but it should be facing a communications challenge. As a representative of the company or a communication consultant, you have been asked to present (with an MS PowerPoint) to the company’s senior management team the reputation or perception of an issue facing the business and your recommendations on how to address this. In your presentation, you should cover: The issue of concern. The best issues for analysis are those that are more long-term rather than an immediate crisis such as an oil spill. Note that issues are not necessarily threats; they can also be an opportunity. For example, a company wants to build a new warehouse, which will let it increase sales and hire more employees, but there is a possible risk of harming local wetlands. The stakeholders affected. Who is affected by this? What are their primary concerns? Who are the most important stakeholders? What is the best way to reach each of these stakeholders? What are the messages the company wants to get across? Recommendations: What should the company do? What should the priority and focus be? The grading of your presentation will be based on the following. Review the grading rubric for full details of point allocation. Presented an effective introduction by capturing the attention of the audience and announcing what the presentation was going to cover and how the issue was affecting corporate reputation. Provides information on the stakeholders, how they are impacted, concerns, etc. Developed credibility on the topic? [Journal, Newspaper/Website, book & other}. Verbally cites five references (APA Name and Date). Adapted the material to the audience in an engaging way? Relates material to the audience (why should we care). Offered recommendations on what the organization should do to capitalize on the issue/event or problem. Provided a summary and effective conclusion that tied ideas together in a meaningful way, ending with a strong closing statement. Interacted with PowerPoint or Website. (Did not constantly read from slides, able to point to relevant images and or material) Deduction for too much reading from note cards and PowerPoint The presentation provided enough details, presented potentially useful information about the organization, and had strong recommendations? Your presentation should last no more than 8 minutes. (There are point’s penalties if you are less than 6 mins and over 8) Visual – MS. PowerPoint (50 Points) This should be representative of the company or organization you are discussing. The company log should appear on each page.
