Week 1 Discussion

Your Doctor of Nurse Practice Project requires you to address a problem in healthcare or academia.  In the Voice Thread presentation – DNP Project Overview, you had the opportunity to hear about the sections for the DNP Project and the importance of having a viable project idea.  In the second presentation, you received information about defenses geared to expose you to the requirements as you begin to develop the project idea.

In this forum, you will discuss the problem you are going to address in your project starting from a global perspective and then narrowing to the organizational level. If available add statistics to show why the problem needs to be addressed.  You will also explain the intervention you will do to address the problem, and the reliable tool you will use to collect data for the project.  Finish the discussion by explaining how your project will attempt to impact the problem.

Week 2 Discussion

In the Voice Thread presentation – Introduction/Background/PICOT and Variables, you learned about the meaning of PICOT and how the Research Question is created using PICO(T) elements.  In this discussion forum (a) identify the variables that will be in the project; and (b) Post your PICOT elements and research question. Clearly identify each letter of PICOT (as appropriate) and what it stands for in your DNP project.  If the project involves a comparison, be sure to put both aspects that will be compared.

After reviewing the Voice Thread presentation on the Background of the Problem, In this forum, you will present the historical background of the problem your project seeks to address providing a comprehensive overview of the evolution of the problem from its inception to current time.  Be sure to include the strategies that have been used by others to successfully or unsuccessfully address the problem over time.  Support your discussion with relevant research findings from the literature.

After reviewing the Voice Thread presentation on Statement of the Problem/Purpose/Significance of the Project, justify the reason for your project and the contribution the project may be able to make to a discipline, profession, and/or society at large.  Discuss a global reason for conducting the project and explain why your project approach may be unique and who stands to benefit.

After reviewing the Voice Thread presentation – Theoretical Framework, Discuss the theory you are considering for your project. Explain how your project fits in one of the focus areas for DNP projects: Practice Change, Translational, Process/QI or Evaluation Project.   How do these focus areas help with identifying your theoretical framework and planning the approach to your project?

Week 6 Discussion

DQ1 After reviewing the Voice Thread presentation – Literature Review, Visit Literature Review: Conducting & Writing. Choose one of the sample literature reviews and provide a critique.  In your discussion posting, identify which sample you are critiquing (1, 2 or 3), what you found that works well in the sample and opportunities for the author to improve on.

DQ2 Using the Example of a Literature Summary Table (Moran textbook page 125), enter at least five articles and the required information for each column – year; author, title, journal; purpose; design; sample; result. This exercise is the beginning of your compilation of significant literature related to your project’s topic and problem focus. Post for instructor feedback.

After reviewing the Voice Thread presentation – Nature, Scope, Limitations, Delimitations, Definitions, In this forum please discuss the nature of your project including an outline of the intervention you will perform.  If your intervention is an education session, include an outline of the content and the learning objectives.  Discuss the scope of the project, as well as the potential limitations and delimitations.

Week 8 Discussion

After viewing the Voice Thread presentation – Timeline: How to Graduate in 28 months, complete the timeline for your DNP project. The timeline document is located under Course Documents on the course page titled ‘DNP Timeline Resource.’  You will need to choose the one specific to your DNP specialization track. Challenge yourself and place projected dates for each area on the timeline document.  Do not leave any blank areas.  Project and aim towards your graduation date. Attach your timeline to this forum and review the timeline of your peers and provide strategies/methods your peers can use to stay on track with their proposed timeline.

Also, in this forum provide a list with definitions of the operational concepts/terms you have identified in your project.  Remember all terms need to be supported and cited with literature.
