Description
Reflect on the gender divisions you’ve seen at NJIT. What kinds of gendered patterns can you identify? That is, what habits, practices, occupations, activities, or behaviors have you seen that seem to be disproportionately done by one gender? What structural effects of this pattern can you identify? (For instance, at many other schools, there is usually a disproportionate number of male Computer Science majors (as compared to the number of men in other fields), and one structural effect of this is that women are less likely to get high paying tech jobs.) You may not use athletics or majors for this assignment.
Note that this last question is kind of the opposite of the structural analyses you’ve done so far. In the past, I’ve asked you to think about something and explain the structural causes for that thing. Now I’m telling you to treat your ideas here as the causes themselves and tell me what the structural effects are.
